AfEI organised the week-long activity from 14 to 18 March 2016 under the theme “Climate Change Mitigation: A Role of the Emerging Generation.”
The activity engaged pupils and students in discussions about environmental sustainability, plastic-waste management and the role of young people in responding to climate change.
The programme concluded in Jacobu with a community clean-up and tree-planting activity.
School outreach
Five schools participated in the programme. Documented outreach activities included visits to:
- St Peter’s Junior High School
- Experimental Junior High School, Krofrom
- Methodist Junior High School, Whentemase
- Abrafi Mansa School, Patabo
Activity outcome
Students participated in discussions about environmental responsibility and plastic-waste disposal. They contributed questions and suggestions and identified actions that pupils and schools could take to improve waste management and environmental care.
